Jon studied classical piano as a teen before developing a taste for Roland and Yamaha music sequences and sampling keyboards while attending college in NY, NY. In 2003, Jon abandoned all traditional instruments in favor of a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet page he was able to program to act as a rudimentary drum machine. As Jon’s programming skills developed, his spreadsheet instrument morphed from a simple recursive loop macro into a multi-track music production machine. Now Jon has connected his spreadsheet to his computer’s internal MIDI sound band (making his instrument instantly playable on any computer running Microsoft Excel) and he has introduced algorithmic randomization into his compositions with interesting results. Jon’s live shows include real-time video projection of his desktop.

Jon Keskitalo lives and works in Portland, Oregon where he puts his Visual Basic programming skills to work for the Freightliner division of Daimler Chrysler.
