Both screenings are free, open to the public, and will be followed by a discussion with director Samuel Holt.
5.31.07 Samuel Holt and Permanent Marks, LLC are proud to announce the world premiere of "Haro Hara: Pilgrimage to Kataragama," Thursday, June 14th at the NYU Cantor Film Center at 6 PM (36 E. 8th St. NY, NY 10003). From Sam Holt's press release: "Haro Hara" presents archival footage of a peaceful Sri Lanka and promotes the hope that, just as the pilgrims return to Kataragama every year, so too will peace and prosperity return to the island. The screening is open to the public ($10 suggested donation) and free for students. The filmmakers, Samuel Holt and Ethan Higbee, will be on hand for a short discussion to follow. Furthermore, on June 17th, Samuel Holt of Nomad Productions, will travel to Sri Lanka to screen the film in temples along the pilgrimage route. Nomad Productions will provide meals for townsfolk, who over the years have been donating meals to the pilgrims, and now find themselves in need.
